Youth Karate

The Youth Karate Class is designed for children from ages 4 - 10. The class has been modified from the Adult Class to relate better to younger children. The class will move at a slower pace and focus more on achievements and rewards. The students will learn in a fun and positive environment. During classes, the students will perform drills and activities that will help the students with motor skills and ability to pay attention and follow directions all while teaching them Traditional Techniques of Isshin-Ryu Karate. This class is taught using the most safe, fun and exciting methods for this age group.

Adult Karate

The Adult Karate Class is designed for everyone above the age of 7. In the class the students will be taught all the traditional techniques and katas of Isshin-Ryu Karate-Do. Students will learn and perform drills and exercises that will help them grow both physically and mentally. In the class the students will learn 8 empty hand kata, 6 weapon kata, sparring, self defense, bag work, line drills, and other exercises. All of these will help teach the student respect, discipline, self control, confidence, leadership, focus, and integrity. Isshin-Ryu stresses "close-in" techniques that are more practical on the street vs. high flashy kicks for example. Isshin-Ryu techniques are mostly thrown from natural stances, limiting wasted motion, maintaining stability and giving you split-second advantages over other styles; Isshin-Ryu uses a "snap style" that permits you to move quickly, deliver more punches or kicks, and lead naturally into other techniques. e.g. the straight punch has no corkscrew common in other styles. Approximately five Isshin-Ryu punches can be thrown in the time used for one corkscrew punch. The punch also ends in and can be thrown from a middle block.
